Searching Engines

 Searching engines are very useful tools to search for information. The most famous is Google but here is a list of  other searching engines and a breif description about them.

DUCK DUCK GO

Its appearence is very similar to Google. It has a search suggestion list wich can help us with our searching. There are few ad spam and that will reduce de noise. This searching engine displays all the results in one page.

ASK

This  searching engine compile answers about education, health and travels. It is complete and easy to use and the results groups seem to be more relevant, but its appearence is a bit messy.

DOGPILE

As we can read on the about section of this searching engine Dogpile will be useful because:

"Dogpile returns all the best results from leading search engines including Google, Yahoo!, and Yandex, so you find what you’re looking for faster.
Each search engine has its own method of searching and each will return different results. Dogpile looks at all of them, decides which are most relevant to your search, eliminates duplicates and reveals them to you. BING 
 
Bing offers suggestions in the leftmost column, you can find also various search options across on the top of the screen. Things like 'wiki' suggestions, 'visual search', and 'related searches' might be come in handy.
 
 
It is a mix between a searching engine and an archive. You can look for old news or see how a web page looked before. The name of the web could not be more explicit. The Archive has been taking pictures of the entire World Wide Web.

Mahalo has employed editors to evaluate the quality of the contens they offer. If we are looking for quality and not for quantity this migth be our best choice.

WEBOPEDIA

Its a searching engine but for technological topics. It is a good  resource for non-technical people.

WEELP
 
This is a solidary searching engine which donate /70% of their incomes to NGO's and it is as powerfull as Google. The onlything you have to do to colaborate is search with it.

MICROSOFT ACADEMIC RESEARCH

Searching engine focus on academic research. We will be able to find academic papers, authors, conferences, journals, and organizations from multiple sources.

GOOGLE

we could not create this entry without talking about the number one searching engine. If you can not find here what you are looking for it will not apear anywhere.

ALTAVISTA

Once you make a search you will feel like using Google , it has allmost the same appearance.

AOL SEARCH

Its is associated with Google. It is fast and efecctive.

GIGABLAST

It it said to be the green search engine  because  90% of its power usage comes from wind energy.

OPEN DIRECTORY

It is a human-edited directory. Their aim is to provide quality information.

WEB CRAWLER

This engine make a compilation search using the top results from other searching engines such as Google and Yahoo!
